
Mode Interactive Video Product
Mode's ad products are often complex templates for ad designers to use per campaign. The Interactive Video product has multiple types, including Bookmarks, Control Bar, and Quiz. All options are different types of interactive overlays that enhance a brand's video with useful and extremely related information, without disrupting the video content.
My role
I participated in product discussions, providing input on product definition, goals, and product packaging. I was responsible for the product's UX and Visual Design and worked closely with the engineering team during implementation. I also provided detailed templates and guidelines for ads designers to use per campaign.

“BOOKMARKS” ad unit is based off of IAB guidelines. It enhances the viewer’s experience by displaying a series of small interactive overlays that are timed to the video to highlight specific products or services in the video. If the viewer chooses to interact, he or she can navigate through interactive elements in an expanded state panel or can click through to the brand’s site. This works best for brand videos that highlight multiple products or services, when the viewer might be interested in getting more information about them.

“CONTROL BAR” ad unit is based off of IAB guidelines. It functions as an extension of the video player controls. It supplies the user with a mixture of interactive features that can open a content-rich interactive panel with complementary information, or provide more utility-type functions such as a click-thru to a brand’s site or social sharing options. This product works well for brand videos that highlight one product or service, but could be enhanced by more features or related information.

“QUIZ” ad unit is a series of interactive trivia question overlays, synced with the video, providing a fun and entertaining way for the viewer to engage with the brand’s content. This product works well with a video that has a bit of a sense of humor or could benefit from a bit of user entertainment, and is a fun way to drive brand awareness.
